(This is probably one of my favorite live reports EVER. It also includes a shit load of pictures. ENJOY)
Finally at the main station before our train left, thank god, we wandered until we found signs that said Berlin HBF and headed down to the platform. The platforms made no sense and there was no signs as to which side you were supposed to be on once you got down there, it was really fucking confusing and stupid. We stopped to buy something to munch on before the train came and about three more groups of Dir en grey followers joined us down on the platform so we knew we had to be in the right place, either that or we were all collectively in the wrong place. One of the groups was a bunch of Japanese girls who'd followed them I believe through the entire tour, they were pretty awesome.
The signs down on the platform changed and it was not for Berlin so we all started stressing out. At some point I was like "DO WE HAVE TO WALK THROUGH A MAGIC WALL TO GET TO THIS PLATFORM? WHAT IS THIS, HARRY POTTER?" We started trying to talk to random Polish people around us to make sure this was the right platform and apparently we needed to be in the right "sector" so we had to take a stroll down the platform to the other end where the train was supposedly supposed to arrive. Okay.
Time passes, it's been 10 minutes since this fucking train was supposed to show up now. FINALLY the sign down on the platform displays BERLIN and the original time it was supposed to come even though now it's 15 minutes past that time now lol, okay Poland, good job sucking. Thank god the fucking train finally comes, and it's a really nice train too, since it's the express to Berlin (which also means to transferring YES). We all climb on, Danielle, Bettina, Sadie, Mairead and I all have a compartment and Kiri, Ani and Patrik are in the car down. Not long after we get settled in the Swedes came down to invade our compartment xD Technically compartments only hold six but we stuffed eight in comfortably since we're all pretty small. There was an empty seat in our compartment and we wondered if anyone had reserved it but we didn't really care much at that point. Whoever would have been stuck with us in the compartment probably would have wanted to leave in less than five minutes anyways.
We had an awesome time on the train ride there. We never stopped talking. Every fifteen minutes someone would pipe up about how we were going to meet Dir en grey in about three/four hours and there would be an anxious silence. I personally had not processed that we were actually going to meet Dir en grey, it's not really something that I can process. We were still unsure if Kyo was going to be there or not and Kyo is the only one who really stresses me out (next would be Kaoru despite the fact that I've now met him, um... four times), the only other time I've "met" Kyo would be in LA when we did not know who he, Shinya or Kaoru were and we were talking very loudly behind them and almost ran them over in the middle of Melrose Street. No, that story will never get old.
We rambled on about all sorts of random things on the six hour train ride to Berlin. The train ride really didn't seem like six hours though, but it did seem like forever until we fucking left Poland. I was sitting next to the windows and was the first to realize it when we left Poland, when we pulled into Frankfurt Station. There was a very loud cheer of joy when I announced that we were finally in Germany.
At some point there WAS a guy who had the reservation for the seat in our compartment, I guess he opened the door of our compartment and stuck his head in to see all of us then went to complain to the train people. We tried to tell him that he could have ALL THREE of the other seats but he was being a douchebag so the Swedes had to leave. Then mister douchebag never came into the compartment after that. Uh... okay? What the fuck? You made such a big deal about all this then you never come in and sit down? LOL OKAY GUY. Mairead and I went up to the next wagon to find them so we knew where they were and since Patrik had left his coffee stuff in the compartment and we told them if this guy didn't come in in the next ten minutes they were coming back.
So long story short he never came in, the Swedes came back and nothing was said to us for the rest of the ride. The guy was emoing outside in the walkway with his headphones on LOL Patrik took a picture of him it's so hysterical. Everyone someone would leave the compartment: "watch out for the emo outside" kgjoierjtoi xDD
I was recording on my camera when we finally reached Berlin.
( Berlin Hauptbahnhof, we're here! )Goodbye, Germany. You showed me some of the best times of my life.
Thank you, Dir en grey, for being the most incredible band ever. You only impress me more with every show.
And thank you to all the amazing friends who came along with us on this amazing adventure. I'm never going to forget this trip, and goddamnit, it better happen again.
(FYI, I was on a plane/in a fucking airport for FORTY HOURS trying to get back to Kansas City after Berlin. YAAAAY TRAVELING IS SO MUCH FUN I JUST LOVE BEING A HOBO)
